At the AI Governance Summit, Serbia joined as the 33rd member state of the Alliance for Artificial Intelligence Governance. Membership in this alliance will accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Serbia with expert support, focusing on sustainability, resilience, and AI safety.
The summit served as a key platform within the broader AI community to steer responsible development and implementation of generative artificial intelligence on a global scale. It aimed to enhance existing AI governance frameworks, allowing the AI community to convene, strengthen existing structures, foster collaboration and partnerships, and advance collective action and impact agendas. The goal was to create an environment that promotes responsible AI use while ensuring that ethical principles remain at the forefront of technological advancements.
It's worth noting that the formation of the Alliance for Artificial Intelligence Governance (AIAG) preceded the summit and includes 33 countries, including Serbia. This collaborative initiative focuses on three key domains: sustainable applications and transformation, governance and regulation resilience, and secure systems and technologies. AIAG aims to leverage collective knowledge to highlight the complexities of AI governance, emphasizing sustainability, resilience, and safety in AI applications.
The participation of various stakeholders from many countries in this initiative underscores the universal recognition of the need for a collective effort in establishing broader AI governance frameworks. The engagement of countries like Serbia in this context is an example of the growing global consensus on the imperative of responsible AI development.
By gathering leaders, decision-makers, and experts, the foundation is laid for a future in which AI innovations align with societal values and ethical considerations, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive technological environment.
