Serbia and Israel have a lot of potential for collaboration in the field of AI

The delegation from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, led by Minister Dr. Jelena Begovic, met with Israeli expert Gil Dror, a consultant for generative artificial intelligence, and Aleksandra Ben Ari, the deputy ambassador of Israel in Serbia, in the building of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. During the discussion, they addressed the advancement of artificial intelligence in the globe and in Serbia, as well as prospective collaboration between Israel and Serbia in this field.

Marjana Brkic, Acting Director of the Center for the Promotion of Science, Dr. Marina Sokovic and Vladimir Radovanovic, Assistant Ministers, and Stefan Badza from the Prime Minister's Office also attended the meeting. The main topic of discussion was the global and Serbian development of VI technologies, as well as the possibilities of collaborative cooperation on artificial intelligence advancement.

Minister Dr. Jelena Begovic emphasized one of the Ministry's priorities, which is the integration of biotechnology, the IT industry, and artificial intelligence. She outlined ideas for the BIO4 Campus, which will be the first of its kind in the Balkans. "The idea is to gather on campus experts from these and related sciences, as well as companies that will support scientists and the development of their ideas", said the minister, who also announced that a portion of the campus will be dedicated to the Institute for Artificial Intelligence.

On this occasion, Israeli researcher Gil Dror highlighted the significance of the ChatGPT artificial intelligence project. "The most significant artificial intelligence project in recent years is without a doubt ChatGPT, which can create a plan for a startup project from idea to realization, which you can launch.People are concerned that such programs may eventually take their jobs, but this is not the case. People that are open to employing such tools will dominate jobs since they will perform their work activities far more efficiently. As a result, we as a society must keep up with the advancement of artificial intelligence in order to adapt", Dror explained.

This meeting marks an important step forward in the development of artificial intelligence in Serbia and opens the door to future collaboration with Israel, with the goal of boosting innovation and scientific achievements to strengthen the technology sector and support economic development.
